Six years ago, Grammy award winner R. Kelly was indicted on child pornography charges. He allegedly made a video while having sex with a girl who was, according to prosecutors, 13 at the time of the taping. As a result, Kelly faced 14 counts of videotaping himself with an underage girl. If convicted, Kelly could have faced 15 years in prison.
The trial lasted just over a week and today the jury of nine men and three women acquitted Kelly of all charges.

According to the Associated Press, the singer
dabbed his face with a handkerchief and hugged each of his four attorneys after the verdict was read.
But even with this verdict, will we ever look at R. Kelly the same again? I don’t think so, especially after the Dave Chappelle “Piss On You” sketch.

One of rock’s founding fathers passed away today at the age of 79. Bo Diddley, who was famous for the “shave and a haircut, two bits” rhythm, died of heart failure at his home in Archer, Florida. The musician performed live up until May 2007 when he had a stroke. In August of 2007, he suffered another set back when struck with a heart attack.

Born as Ellas Bates on Dec. 30, 1928, in McComb, Mississippi, Diddley learned to playguitar at the age of 10.He was most recognizable with his homemade square guitar, dark glasses and black hat. Diddley also was famous for adding reverb and tremelo effects to his electric guitar performances. In 1999, he received a lifetime achievement award at the Grammys.
Godspeed, sir. Without your innovations, rock music wouldn’t be what it is today.
