Rock Legend Diddley Dead At 79

One of rock’s founding fathers passed away today at the age of 79.� Bo Diddley, who was famous for the “shave and a haircut, two bits” rhythm, died of heart failure at his home in Archer, Florida.� The musician performed live up until May 2007 when he had a stroke.� In August of 2007, he suffered another set back when struck with a heart attack.

Born as Ellas Bates on Dec. 30, 1928, in McComb, Mississippi, Diddley learned to play�guitar at the age of 10.��He was most recognizable with his homemade square guitar, dark glasses and black hat.� Diddley also was famous for adding reverb and tremelo effects to his electric guitar performances.� In 1999, he received a lifetime achievement award at the Grammys.

Godspeed, sir.� Without your innovations, rock music wouldn’t be what it is today.
